Anti-encroachment drive to continue till July 27

In pursuance of orders of honorable High court, the exercise of identification of illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes and roads and sealing of illegal encroachments in Dehradun city by Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration will continue from July 7 till July 27, 2018 from 10 am to 5 pm unabated. FIRs will be registered against people doing illegal encroachments under relevant IPC sections. No relaxation will be permissible in the anti-encroachment drive.

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash reviewed the campaign to remove encroachments and identification of encroachments and further action at a meeting held at Women Industrial Training Institute, RDT Auditorium at Survey Chowk on Friday. Under the anti-encroachment drive, 242 illegal encroachments were identified on Friday. A total of 2154 illegal encroachments have been identified till date.

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that if anyone does encroachment again after the demolition drive then concerned department should register FIR against such persons under relevant IPC sections.

He instructed the Task Force that the owners of the buildings where encroachments are removed should also be challaned regularly. He said that there will not be any relaxation in the demolition drive. He further said that lunch packets for anti-encroachment staff should be provided by the MDDA so that even the lunch hours are utilized for work.

Om Prakash instructed the police department that Sunday market should not be allowed under any circumstances so that there is less pressure of traffic and the work of anti-encroachment drive could be undertaken without any difficulty. He said that if anyone put up a shop in Sunday market then that person should be arrested and action taken against such persons. He further said that besides removing illegal vegetable markets, special vending zones for vegetables be marked so that general public do not suffer.

Dumka, Additional District Magistrate Mussoorie Meenakshi Patwal, Additional District Magistrate Chakrata Brijesh Kumar C.O. B.S.Chauhan, Under Secretary Dinesh Kumar Punetha and officials connected with the anti-encroachment drive were present in the meeting.
