Andhra Pradesh Begs National Awards for effective implementation of MGNREGS

 

The Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department has bagged 10 National Awards for effective implementation of MGNREGS in the state. The Ministry after rigorous scrutiny through field inspections, MIS reports and presentations made before the eminent jury members has announced the final list of awardees and it is heartening to note that Andhra Pradesh state has won 11 awards in 9 categories out of the 10 categories. The awards were received by Principal Secretary PR&RD  Dr K S Jawahar Reddy IAS, Secretary RWS&S Sri B Ramanjaneyulu, IAS and Director P RanjitBasha IAS and Collectors of Visakhapatnam District Sri Pravin Kumar IAS and Prakasam District,Sri V Vinay Chand, IAS (List of awards and recipient particulars are enclosed).

The convergence strategy adopted by state government for effective implementation has enabled the state to create sustainable and durable infrastructure in rural areas and strengthened the livelihood resource base for the rural poor through many innovative projects with the convergence of 23 departments.  The measures taken for bringing transparency and accountability in the implementation of the scheme has fetched the 1st prize to the state.  The AP state has got the distinction of receiving award under Transparency and Accountability category consecutively for the last 3 years. Availability of skilled technical manpower for taking timely measurements of the works done under MGNREGS is one of the major issues being faced by many states. The AP state has taken initiative to train the unskilled wage seekers as skilled technicians through a systematic training of 90 days and has created an opportunity for 600 young educated unemployment youth to take up career as Bare Foot Technicians in EGS. This initiative has brought national award to state and the state stood at 3rd position.  The Prakasam and Visakhapatnam District have spent about Rs 601 Cr and Rs 587 Cr respectively during 2016-17 and implemented the MGNREGS in an exceptional manner and received awards for their overall performance in crating wage employment. The good governance initiatives such as proper maintenance of MGNREGS records, proactive disclosure of information to public through citizen information boards, job cards updation etc., have secured the state 3rd position at national level. 100%  Geo Tagging of assets, Cashless DBT to Wage seekers, closure of works, effective implementation at GP level  have fetched the awards under many other categorie
