CBSE announces results of 12th; Hansika Shukla and Karishma Arora tops exam
CBSE 12th board results out; Hansika Shukla and Karishma Arora score 98.8 per cent; Trivandrum has pass percentage of 98.2%, Chennai 92.93% and Delhi 91.87%.
The Central Board for Secondary Education on Thursday declared the results for Class 12th board examination. More than 12 lakh students appeared for the examination, and total pass percentage is recorded at 83.6 % with Thiruvananthapuram scoring the highest pass percentage at 98.20%. Hansika Shukla from Ghaziabad and Karishma Arora from Muzaffarnagar topped the examination with a score of 499 out of 500.
The Central Board for Secondary Education announced the results for Class 12th board examination, the total pass percentage was recorded at 83.40%. It has increased by 0.39 % since last year.
Yet again, girls have outshone boys. The girls recorded a pass percentage of 88.70 %, while the boys scored a pass percentage at 79.40 %. . It was the first time, that CBSE included a non-binary category, where students recoded a pass percentage of 83.30 %.
Hansika Shukla, a student of DPS Ghaziabad, and Karishma Arora from Muzaffarnagar topped the the CBSE class 12th examination with 499 marks out of 500. Both, Shukla and Arora want to pursue psychology honours for their undergraduate studies. Rishikesh’s Gaurangi Chawala, Raebareli’s Aishwarya and Bhavya from Jind bagged the second rank, scoring 498 out of 500 marks. And, 18 students across various regions stood third with a score of 497.
Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Prakash Javadekar congratulated the students for their results. Adding on he congratulated state run Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for their outstanding results.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the students. He said in a tweet:
Congratulations to all my young friends who have successfully passed the CBSE Class XII examinations. My best wishes to them for their endeavours. Kudos also to their parents and teachers for the valuable support.
Thiruvananthapuram region had the highest pass percentage at 98.20 followed by Chennai at 92.93 % and Delhi at 91.87 %. Foreign schools affiliated to the CBSE recorded pass percentage at 95.43 %. The CBSE has also announced that the regional offices will increase from 10 to 16 by next year.
The CBSE class 12 examination began on February 16, earlier than previous years. The results, which are usually announced by the third week of May, also came out earlier than scheduled, within 28 days of the last date of the examination.
