‘World’s heaviest woman’ to fly to India for weight reduction surgery
New Delhi: The world’s heaviest woman from Egypt is to fly to India for weight reduction surgery when the MEA personally intervened to secure her a visa.
Muffazal Lakdawala, a Indian surgeon had offered to carry out the process free of charge after hearing about Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty.
Eman Ahmed weighs around 500 kilogrammes (1,100 pounds).
However, Eman’s request for a visa was initially rejected, encouraging Lakdawala to tweet a request for help to India’s foreign affair minister Sushma Swaraj.
Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty is a bag of diseases and needs surgery urgently, the surgeon said .
Muffazal Lakdawala further said he was amazed when Swaraj, who is herself ill in hospital awaiting a liver transplant, responded to his plea within hours.
Eman’s sister had approached him about two months ago,urging her sister needed urgent medical attention.
Family of Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty said the doctor that as a child she was diagnosed with elephantiasis, a condition that causes the limbs and other body parts to swell, leaving her almost immobile.
Eman also suffered a stroke and she has bundle of ailments including high blood pressure, ,diabetes, hypertension and sleep apnoea.
