117 illegal encroachments demolished, 67 identified during anti-encroachment drive on Thursday

dditional Chief Secretary Om Prakash has informed that in pursuance of orders of honorable court, the exercise of demolition, identification of illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes, roads and other places and sealing of illegal encroachments in Dehradun city by Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration has been going on.

Under the anti-encroachment drive on Thursday, 117 illegal encroachments were demolished and 67 illegal encroachments were identified. Till date, a total of 3004 illegal encroachments have been demolished, 5391illegal encroachments have been identified and 108 buildings sealed during the anti-encroachment drive.

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash on Thursday, reviewed the campaign to remove encroachments, identification of encroachments, sealing of buildings and further action with anti-encroachment task force officials at a meeting held at Women Industrial Training Institute, RDT Auditorium at Survey Chowk.

Om Prakash instructed the Chief Engineer and Superintending Engineer of PWD to immediately provide him the list of all those assistant engineers and junior engineers who had been posted in the limits of Dehradun Municipal Corporation since 2001 from where encroachments are being removed. He said that the inquiry regarding encroachments done in Dehradun Municipal Corporation area since 2001 will also be done through satellite maps. This will help know that illegal encroachments on PWD lands within the limits of Dehradun Municipal Corporation were done under the jurisdiction of which assistant and junior engineers. He announced that strict action will be taken against such assistant and junior engineers.

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that illegal buildings, which were identified by the task force, whose building owners have taken time from the task force stating that they will themselve, remove the encroachments, identified by the task force. On this, Om Prakash instructed the District Magistarte, Dehradun that such buildings, where the work of identification has been done and the concerned building owners have yet not removed the encroachments should be removed immediately and demolition proceedings should be undertaken.

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash has given strict instructions to Junior Engineer of Uttar Pradesh Housing Development Council Ramesh Chandra that he should establish contact with his headquarters and the proceedings for the demolition of the encroachments, as per the orders of the honorable court, on the Uttar Pradesh Housing Development Council land in Nehru Colony, Indira Nagar and Doon Vihar should be conducted soon.

Om Prakash has given strict instructions to the Executive Engineer of Irrigation Department that the prompt action should be taken to remove encroachment from the Irrigation Department land. He said that no laxity in this work will be tolerated. Om Prakash said that administration is getting full support of the public in the anti-encroachment drive. He instructed the task force officials that during the anti-encroachment drive, those people whose buildings are being demolished, their grievances should be listened.
