7,357 people evacuated over Cyclone Vardah
Cyclone Vardah is 50 km from Chennai. Andhra CM Chandarbabu Naidu has said that food and other essential merchandises have been kept ready in adequate quantities.
Naval aircraft standing by at the Naval air base in INS Rajali and Dega will be pressed into act. Moreover, one survey ship has also been kept on standby to undertake harbour survey in case there is any requirement.
As per the latest report the Tamil Nadu government has said that 7,357 people have been safely evacuated to 54 relief centres so far.
Residence living in Palaverkadu and Ennore have been asked to vacate their homes by Tamil Nadu government.
Flight operations have been hit at Chennai airport. So far, 15 flights have been cancelled, 25 flights have been diverted and nine others have been delayed.
Educational institutions and offices in Chennai, Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts will remain closed on Monday.
